The deadliest natural disaster to strike the United States was “The 1900 Storm” that struck Galveston, Texas, on September 8, 1900. Thousands lost their lives in that hurricane, but it wasn't the only hurricane to blow into Texas. This app, Texas Hurricanes, is an app reviewing the tropical storms and hurricanes that have hit the Texas Coast from 1851 to present.

Some of the data is imprecise, but we've done our best to research the information. For each storm we provide:

- the name
- date it made landfall
- time of day it made landfall
- where it made landfall
- its winds at landfall
- landfall pressure
- the highest classification/category it reached
- the highest winds it produced
- the U.S. costs
- the number of deaths in Texas
- the track it took

There is additional information available about each storm available on the iPad.

Users can sort the data by landfalling categories, 10-year periods, coastal sections, months, and major hurricanes.

There are also tables for the most intense, costliest, and deadliest storms.

Overall, it provides a quick recap of over 100 tropical cyclones that have impacted the Texas Coast.

This app is highly informative and I find myself consulting it every single day. I live in California so I feel earthquakes on a regular basis. It is so much easier to click on this app than to go to the Internet to download the USGS site. I am also learning a lot about geography when clicking on the maps to locate current earthquakes all over the world.
